My first run at composing.

This was done for a friend and his project for a game design class. I really wanted a SNES feel to it; nothing too advanced (despite remixing the published version with Reason to give it a better feel). It was a really fun project and I hope I can compose more game music in the future. Again, this is my first try at composing, so any critique is encouraged.

Track list:
1. Title Theme
2. Windy Peaks
3. Woodlands
4. Downtown Barricade
5. Frostbite
6. Illusion
7. Ending / Credits

My deepest thanks to Claude Debussy who helped me compose Frostbite. I'm really not a fan of his work, but his piece "The Snow is Dancing" (No. 4 from Children's Corner) helped set the desolate and completely surreal feel of it.

If you're wondering if you've heard Downtown Barricade before... I used a lot of inspiration from the soundtrack from Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I couldn't for the life of me track down the composer, so, if you composed the music for this game and are reading this, let me know :D EDIT: Tomohito Nishiura is the amazing composer for Professor Layton (and other games)!

Regarding all other songs, I got most of my inspiration from Yoko Shimomura, Nobuo Uematsu, Koji Kondo, and from Pixel's game Cave Story. I am still trying to find my own style, with regards to composing and playing, but thanks to these awesome people who inspire me, I can hopefully revise my techniques and become better.

Everything (c) Sebastian Wolff. Feel free to use my work, but give credit where credit is due, and let me know about if and when you use it.

  • Might you be a pastafarian, good sir?

  • I do not condone noodly appendages.

  • who's Ozzie ?

  • *shrugs* Some guy who goes on a quest.

  • A world famous monster hunter who travels the world slaying beasts that plague innocent people. He disappeared several years ago, but he has been spotted recently, taking down monsters pro bono...

  • I propose a sequel.

  • this video is mmmmmm

  • i haven't quite gone through with the whole game making process, and i'm still trying to figure out how to properly set up my piano to transmit data through midi so i can record the music, (although i think i realize what i'm supposed to do now...) Anyway i'm probably going to just try composing and maybe put the music up on youtube or some other site.

  • Kyle Landry posted a dozen comments on this. Enough said.

  • Nice! I think you succeeded in making each track unique but still feel like they belong to the same game. In other words, gj :) Also nice instrumentation choice, piano + flute + strings sounds great!

Check out some of my compositions if you want to!
