This video contains footage of my first ever professional photoshoot, with pictures taken by the talented Parker Day. Angel Phillips took care of styling and concept and special thanks is due to Shaida for the hair/makeup and Nicolas Birondo for becoming our impromptu lighting assistant! John McPeck basically shot tons of behind-the-scenes footage in the background while we were shooting so I decided to cobble it together with my best amateur editor eye and make this video. I wanted to capture the moment as I experienced it it was freezing cold and I was incredibly nervous and the wind was blowing in my eyes so tears were streaming down my face the entire time, LOL. That said, it was a magnificent experience. I learned a lot about how to hold yourself as a model, since one look at me and you can definitely tell that I wasnt meant to be one!
The Mountain is a special song for me for several reasons. Most importantly, its the first song I ever co-wrote with my longtime collaborator Stephen Lawford with the express purpose of me performing it as a solo song. I had originally intended it to be a b-side or a myspace bonus for fans but when Stephen came in at a crucial moment and helped me transform a rather simple tune into the majestic Mountain, I just knew I had to release it as a single - even though, at six and a half minutes, it wasn't exactly your garden variety pop song. It was originally going to be a single before even Horizon, but technical problems and artistic frustration held it up we went through 3 different incarnations of the song before we got to a point where we were happy with it, and I couldnt be prouder with the result. I hope you enjoy the song and maybe, if you REALLY like it, you'll head over to Itunes or Amazon.com or my Myspace SnoCap store and pick up a copy of my "MOUNTAIN EP"! Oh, and the lyrics are below if you are curious!

LYRICS-----------------------------------
The Mountain performed by Matthew McPeck
written by Stephen Lawford & Matthew McPeck © 2008
Produced by Lawford & McPeck and Dan Marfisi
Verse 1:
I feel the weight of the ocean in my eyes.
As I watched you leave the shore.
Your ship sailed past the Cape of Cornwall
Ghosts of strangers - my company once more.
All alone now I walk the dark moor.
Yet long lost sailors accompany
From the tor to the hills to the mountain
From this peak to the salt of the sea
CHORUS:
Words fail me to describe
Love just begins to climb
Were only half a while away
Words fail me to describe
Love just begins to climb
Were only half a while away
Verse 2:
In the wind I can hear your voice call
I see your face in each ship's passing stern
Ill take my drum and hang it by the sea shore.
You can strike it upon your return.
Granite tombstones over shadow me.
Your face carved deep in each rock's memory
From the tor to the hills to the mountain
From this peak to the salt of the sea
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Your heart followed me to the new world, stowed away under lock and key
Everyday I can still taste the ocean, hear your call from the dephths of the sea
I am sure there is one place our souls will meet
where the shore crashes into the mountain
you're the rocks
you're the sea
Verse 3
I'll keep on climbing and searching past the day. I. die.
Long abandoned, eroded and withered with time
I'll stand tall and keep watch, I will always believe
From this peak to the salt of the sea
CHORUS x2
Last lines: From the tor to the hills to the mountain
From this peak to the salt of the sea.
