Here is my 1985 Mustang GT 5.0. I still need to add the 5.0 badges on the front fenders, the hood decal, and the hatch decal. I prepped the car and did all the body work, and Maaco painted it. I was pretty impressed considering Maaco painted it. Just goes to show, you should do your own prep work before taking it down there.

COST WAS $650 FOR ME. I am stating that here because so many people ask, even though it is in every other comment.

  • wow you got lucky. They did my 95 chevy and about 2 months after i went mudding the mud stained my paint. never going to maaco again

  • @h88auto I didn't get lucky. I prepped the car myself. You shouldn't expect to bring a car in off the street and have it painted for $500 and expect it to be an awesome job.

  • They did an excellent job!

  • @Latinlabel I think so!

  • MAGNIFICO...! yo tengo uno igual pero color gris.

  • @henrigutti Buenisimo! Tienes una video?

  • Looks great. I don't know why some people act like it doesn't look good. They are just dicks. I suspect it is an enamel with hardener.

25 years ago I would buy the enamel paint and hardener do all the prep and body work and have a painter just shoot it for 50 bucks. Ahhh the good old days. I suppose 650 with paint these days is a pretty good deal.

  • PPl just dont get how Prep work eats time

say a shop charges $50-$90 hour

Good prep = probly more than 3hr's

cheap shop prep = rims trim and stickers glue from stickers ect... GET PAINTED

  • @BVDV63

What did you do to prep your car for the paint?

  • Hows the paint holding up if you still have the car?

  • I guess that you'll be keeping it out of the sun during storage? I went through a repaint of my fox a year ago and uploaded videos. I don't trust MAACO though. Looks good on the outside.

  • Was this video made in the Amazon jungle?

  • @mikono14 @BVDV63 I think single stage base. And used super cheap base, and hardener. Ive never seen it do that before and my hotrod is single stage and looks great but i did all the work myself. Yes on laquer, laquer is actually a better paint and shines brighter in the sun. Its just that the EPA is pushing towards water base paint wich to me does not give such a deep shine and seems to fade after awhile.

  • @h88auto did they not use base clear cause the only way it could stain is if they used laquer paint which is barley ever use anymore
