The movie might have blown, according to some, but Snyder does know his shit when it comes to action scenes

It gave them the chance to cut, but the entire scene was filmed in it's entirety several times, in long takes.

Two cameras was placed next to each other, one with a wide-angle lens, and the other one zoomed in, so they didn't have to distort the image by digital zooming.

The only cutaway is the spear throw, but then it cuts back to the same take again.

Awesomely impressive how they did it.

A leg sliced off at the thigh means that you would pass out in 2 seconds and bleed out completely in 10. The femoral artery guys.

Actually every time someone runs in front of the camera, it gives them a chance to do a cut. So it may not have been all one take.

Fantastic, but without the slow mo, a 20 minute fight is really 44 seconds.
