For any home hobbyists or tech lovers, the show "Prototype This" is
going to be your new favorite TV show. In each episode, the four hosts
attempt to turn their wacky ideas into a reality. CNET's Kara Tsuboi spends
a day with the crew on location in the San Francisco Bay Area to learn about
a waterslide simulator, a "pyro pack," and a robot that can climb stairs.

  • Let's all band together and bring this show back on. This was this best thing that could happen to TV. American Choppers is getting old already and this would've been refreshing.

  • DIY??? Sure shit we all have a $3,000 mill and lathe set up just setting around. Off to go fire up the plastic injection molding machine.

  • It's one of the best shows where they do real engineering work, hardware design, writing their own software - not throw some explosives nearly killing themselves ;) (like in smash lab) ...

  • I wish it wasn't cancelled it was very interesting

  • No way, this show is so awesome...why the heck did they do it? Its bad enough that other countries have to create/invent things that always beats Americas counter-part, this is a way to go ahead of those people (much like those times when tech is on the increase and whatever)

BTW, how much does it cost to do one of those beds?

  • Wow Adam Savage really let himself go.

  • lol just came out in uk today lol

  • why was it cancelled

  • I agree on all points :)

I think a show that shows you how to make a plastic mold making machine or other tools for the shop would be more helpful.

I have seen where guys have made it with parts of an oven and so on and using thin lexan type plastic.

This does give me an idea, all I have to do is sell it.

  • I agree, the capital cost of their equipment = MY MORTGAGE!! So much for DIY!

They should really be really "prototyping this" with equipments from the street conrner hardware store otherwise it just a pro-engineering workshop IMO!

Still its very nice to see what equipment they have so as a DIY, so that i can WISH and HOPE for it.
