Even though the movie itself a master piece but I just came here for the sequence from 44:26 to 1:08:30 (Karthick's part) which holds the most powerful screenplay ever in tamil industry. I don't think any director can make this wonder other than Maniratnam (ofcourse with the help of Illayaraja)

Watch the 1980 Mahendran movie Nenjathai Killadhe. You will observe similarity in dialogues (with slight variations) in Mouna Ragam and judge for yourself as to which is a classic. Mani Ratnam is good at his work without being original (i.e. the story).

This movie was released in 1986. around 26 years upon its release and yet this movie looks more advanced, the screenplay and direction by mani ratnam sir is excellent, the background score by illayaraja sir is just mind blowing. this movie is one of the mile stone in the indian film history. obviously karthik's performance is very good and he dare to propose revathy everywhere and i guess at that time this scenes might have wondered every one since those days love stories arent this kind.
