"Newt Gingrich avoided tens of thousands of dollars in Medicare payroll taxes in 2010 by using a technique the Internal Revenue Service has consistently and successfully attacked..." according to a report in Forbes. The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur ties it with Newt's refusal to attack Mitt Romney for not releasing his tax returns.

  • @calimar28 You don't work your way into wealth. The 1% started life on 3rd base. Social mobility in the US is an illusion. It's not about envy, it's about paying your fair share. If I'm paying almost 1/3 of my income to the IRS & I make <$10/hr, & Romney is paying <15%, there's a terrible imbalance in the system.

  • @jmintube. calimar28 is a KKK member which means he shouldn't be taken seriously, doesn't know what he's talking about, can't tell the truth and only talks big because he's hiding behind his computer, wearing a hood and surrounded by his fellow KKK members or in his parents' basement.

  • @upabittoolate Loser mentality! I was not given any advantage so therefore my existense as a failure is justified. No wonder you are a failure!!!!

    IDIOT!!!

  • Fuck him

  • and this is just the shit he couldnt hide. democrats have an unopened closet aswell. why didnt obombya have any transparency? cause he is osama. just look it up, the evidence is incredible

  • It's dividend, not divident

  • why the ? in the title?

  • @hofifut But that's NOT the most I'm paying in taxes. You really need to deal with reality. You're telling me about doing the math. That's fine. I've actually paid the taxes. Keep failing.

  • @upabittoolate

Let's say you make $10/hr (you said you make less), and work 50 hours a week. That's a gross income of $26000. That would put you into the 15% fed tax bracket. Your federal tax at most would be $3482, which is an effective fed tax rate of 13.4% If you were married, or had other deductions or exemptions, this rate would be less. Ok, add in state tax. You're telling me you pay 28%? And BTW, city taxes don't get paid to the IRS. Sorry, can't trust you've done the math

  • @eagles980

His first 3 sentences were stated as absolute, and that's what I was calling him out on. Then using his wage of <$10/hr, he tries to convince people he's paying 1/3 of his income to the IRS, which is impossible. You should also notice that I never said the tax sytem is fair. In fact, I do support a more progressive tax system. But this person doesn't do himself any favours by making things up or making mere ideological trite slogans. So spare me your own righteous indignation.

  • @hofifut I'm paying 28%. That's 1 percentage point closer to 1/4 than 1/3 but then you must consider state & city. Trust me friend, I've done the math. Also, the preponderance of people with wealth were born with it. Sure there are outliers. But the the fact is that there aren't many nuveau riche in America. You should think harder before you post comments.

  • @hofifut The obvious conclusion to the demand that the wealthy pay at least the same percentage of income in taxes as the rest of us is definitely that wealth is bad. *sarcasm*

The mere fact that you immediately try to marginalize a non controversial statement such as the one upabittoolate made, proves that advocates of wealth distribution that favors the rich have nothing substantive to add to a debate about taxation. He didn't even say all rich people are born into wealth.
