I teared up when watching this. As a kid I was an incredible hockey player and had dreams of playing for the Canadian team. I remember watching them in 2002 beating the American team, hoping that would be me 1 day. At 12 I started realizing I was differen, and I was too scared, scared of the feelings I had and scared of not being able to tell anyone. I quit hockey and nobody understood why. I don't even think I did. I wish I had a video like this one and the support of my favourite NHL players.

How do you know you haven't met a homosexual hockey player? Last I checked, people don't wear name tags saying "Hey, I'm gay!" Sorry buddy, but you've probably met a few gay players. For obvious reasons, they were just not "out" to their teammates. I'm a straight man and have played hockey since I was 5. I love the game, and this video and initiative made me prouder of our sport than I've ever been.

this is both sexist and homophobic and you should be ashamed. being a "real man" doesn't mean "liking vagina" - gay men are still men. and what's wrong with women playing an aggressive sport? women have a tendency to be (physically) weaker, but that doesn't mean we can't handle it. the military is evidence of that.

I think the reason you've never met an openly gay hockey player is the same reason why this campaign is happening. Either gay athletes quit the sport or they keep it a secret. I can guarantee you that you have met a homosexual hockey player at some point during your playing career.
