I went for a stroll in a bomb suit with a chemical ( CBRN ) suit underneath. System was functional but for the novice = me, movement in general is difficult.

  • I am sorry to hear you lost your son.

  • @AccesVirus , I'm sorry for any confusion - while I'm happy to report my son is home safely, and not likely to re-deploy to Afghanistan. My post was expressing my respect and sorrow for the loss of my sons friend who was responsible for saving my sons life on at least a few occasions.

  • U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Chauncy R. Mays was a 25-year-old Cookville, Texas, native assigned to 705th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company based at Fort Polk, La., when he died during an improvised explosive device attack while on a dismounted patrol in the Tangi area Feb. 28. Mays was working out of Combat Outpost Tangi in support of 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, while deployed to Afghanistan.

  • To add just a little more complexity to this situation, I was wearing a CBRN protective suit made by LION underneath this MedEng EOD 9. The original plan was to simulate disarming a VBIED located near the axle of this car.

My special thanks to SSgt Mays and his family for their ultimate sacrifice. Just weeks before his death disarming multiple IED's my son attributes his being alive today because of the efforts and acts of heroism this young man and so many more perform on a daily basis.

  • dang a bomb suit and a airpak.

1 question whats the thing that looks like a iphone on his wrist?

  • @madmace125 The control panel on the wrist is a set of controls for the suit and helmet.

  • I would kill a man for that suit

  • Holy Shit a juggernaut lol

  • @KkF00 How effective the suit is depends on the size o fthe bomb and how close you are when it goes off. The joke we use to tell people when they asked that question at a display / open house was that the suit is just there to keep your body in big enough parts for an open casket funeral.

  • Do those suits actually help at all? I've always wondered, because I would think that suit wouldn't effect how dangerous the bomb would be.

  • I'm eod,if you see me running follow me. Lol

  • lol their moto should be " If you see up running, you better catch up"
