In which I describe one of many fatal objections to Mr. Adam's ridiculous theory that the Earth is growing.

  • And what if the gravity is decreasing ? That would make the earth grow, and everything else in the universe as well.

"And what if the gravity is decreasing ? That would make the earth grow, and everything else in the universe as well."

That's true, it would. However, physicists have found no evidence that this is the case. In addition, it would cause the Earth to move farther from the sun over time, and we see no evidence that this has happened.

Typing key words in ALL CAPS does not constitute an argument.

"Intuitively wrong" does not constitute an argument.

The evidence for subduction zones are earthquake locations and depths, volcano locations, and lava chemistry.

The evidence for mantle convection are ocean island chemistry, sea floor heat flow and depths, hot spots, and seismic tomography.

To name a just a few for each one.

  • @Arfalarf Well you have PROVEN my point again about NOT thinking objectively and critically. Mantle convection and subduction HAVE NO proof and are intuitively wrong. This in no where near evolution.

  • @Andrewlohbihler

"Remember that science is NOT democratic where we VOTE in a theory, we look at objective evidence and critically think."

I agree. The only problem is that the evidence for plate tectonics is overwhelming, just like the evidence for evolution.

  • @Arfalarf That is EXACTLY what a stupid christian will do when defending their dogmatic world view. Christians have no room for critical thinking because they are "locked" into a mindset that is OBVIOUSLY wrong. This applies to you as well as you are locked into a mindset that thinks of nothing more than PT and will deliberately IGNORE the short-falls of this theory. Remember that science is NOT democratic where we VOTE in a theory, we look at objective evidence and critically think.

The article you linked to is not peer-reviewed (it talks about a peer-reviewed article second hand), but it does make the case that Mars experienced plate tectonics in the past. It actually supports my case, not yours.

  • @dbr9714

Theories are more important than individual facts. Theories are ideas that have made testable predictions about individual facts and that have not been disproven. Conservation of mass/energy is one of the foundational principles of physics and it has been confirmed by facts numerous times. The odds that it is wrong are much smaller than the odds that Neil Adams simply doesn't know what he is talking about.

And positronium does not disappear, it becomes gamma rays.

  • @Andrewlohbihler

People say things that are wrong and I point out why they are wrong. How is that opposed to critical thinking?

  • Why is everyone a troll to you? Do you not believe in critical thinking? You sound like a christian defending his dogma.
