Blown Apart Part 5 - Air Crash Investigation/Mayday

In September 1989, a Partnair Convair 580 plunged into the sea just off the coast of Denmark killing all 55 people on board. Due to the use of non-genuine spare parts, the bolts joining the tail section to the fuselage failed in flight leading to a catastrophic structural failure.

@platinumsalamander They did, the wreckage picked up the residue when it was laying at the bottom of the Sea..There was explosive residue at the bottom of the ocean due to many wars fought over the North Sea.

@testpress Its a bolt and nut assembly and let me tell you as a HD mechanic that parts are not cheep no matter what it is for things on the ground let alone the aviation industry. think about it

@platinumsalamander They said it was probably due to material from old wartime munitions that was already in the water. When the aircraft was resting under water it collected some of that on its surfaces.
