Trailer for the film AT EASE directed by Ryan Slattery.

A young Naval Aviator, Kevin, is killed in action just days before he was to be discharged under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." When his partner, Tyler, arrives at his funeral unexpectedly, his father, Bill, finds out more than he wants to know about his son. Throughout their encounter, Bill wrestles with his own prejudices as Tyler tries to tell the truth about his son and their relationship. But, as Tyler finds out, the truth has consequences in a military that does not welcome gays and lesbians openly into their ranks. They represent the tens of thousands of brave men and women who daily fight for freedom, yet have none themselves.

DJ Smolinsky gives a breakout performance as LTJG Tyler Holland, a young man who was forced to hide in the shadows until the unthinkable happened. Robert Schwalbach commands the screen as Bill McConnell, Kevin's lonely and bigoted father. Written and directed by Ryan Slattery, AT EASE is narrative of the prejudice and hypocrisy that has pervaded the United States military throughout its existence.

Written and Directed by Ryan Slattery; Produced by Steven Demarco and Ryan Slattery; Executive Producers Sean Slattery and Stephen Hendrickson; Director of Photography Brynmore Williams; Music by Kevin MacLeod.

  • @Angelusmortis33 You make me laugh. First, all uniforms, insignia, and ribbons are real. How do I know that? An active duty officer was my technical advisor, in addition to the fact that my father was a Naval Aviator and officer. Second, there absolutely WERE gay soldiers in WWII and Vietnam. The entire basis for this film was the interviews and testimonials from soldiers, gay and straight, from wars past. Read "Coming Out Under Fire" on WWII by Allan Berube and get your facts straight.

  • I think this represents the story of a lot of gay men and women in our military today.

  • I just watched this short movie. It is very touching so you will certainly drop some tears. Although the movie deals with death it bursts with life and emotion. The dialog between the the son-in-law and the father is electrified but honest and respectful. I really do recommend this movie!

  • FINALLY a gay movie thats not all about sex.

    I don't know about anyone else but I'm just so tried about every gay movie being centered around consensual, pleasure-oriented, meaningless sex. I mean not all gay movies do that but a good number do. I really admire this movie because it truly coveys the humanity in all people; death, though sad, shows how all of us are equal, no matter what orientation we are. All Tyler was trying to do was to allow Bill to truly understand and thus love his son.

  • @actorkidryan well said :)

  • From the trailer, this movie looks a lot like Shahrukh Khan's Mohabbaten, with two guys instead of a boy and a girl, military setting instead of school and no sub-stories to complicate the matters. And it's one of my all time favourites... So, I'm really looking forward to seeing this one...

    I cant wait for it to be available in India :(... i'll wait till Jan, then try amazon

  • I'm tired of saying it and hope one day REALLY SOON I can quit;

    People join the military to protect the USA. I could care less what color skin they have, what religion's god they may choose to worship and I certainly could CARE LESS who they welcome to their bed. Do your job, do it well, PLEASE BE SAFE doing it and come back ASAP! Thank you from a Gay American.

    HATE the war and the war makers but never, EVER hate the warriors.

  • oh gosh...really

  • It sems boring...

  • i hope there will also be a release on the european market soon.

  • @Angelusmortis33 Gay, Straight, Male, Female, Black, White, Yellow, It doesn't matter. They fight and most of the time DIE for YOUR FREEDOM (freedom to right your opinion and not be killed because of it) because they believe in this country. A country that DOESN'T EVEN give them the RESPECT and RIGHTS that they deserve. We are all human, love who you want when you want, and remember who gives you that RIGHT ( not the government but the people) DON'T ASK DON'T TELL CAN GO TO HELL!!!
