Question Time 23/04/2009 Dr David Starkey's views on Scotland - well the Question time panel and audience seemed to find them funny anyway.

Culture Minister Michael Russell said: "These are unfortunate and silly comments from someone who has a proven track record in courting controversy.

"I would be delighted to welcome Dr Starkey to Scotland so that he can discover the truth about our country and find out for himself about our rich culture and history.

"Sadly, I fear that there may be no point in extending such an invitation, as Dr Starkey seems to relish being ill-informed and does not appear to have an open mind when it comes to Scotland and what we have to offer as a nation."

A spokesman for the historian said he made the comments in an open debate and had "nothing more to add."

  • I apologise on behalf of the Scots for any past occurence of anglophobia made at the expense of the English. Just hand us over David Starkey and we'll call it quits.

  • Hahaha that cunt is so stupid :L We don't even get a day off on St. Andrews Day :L

  • I used to really respect David Starkey but I dont understand how a historian feels that he needs to put down a countries culture when he is not from that country. If he had said that about another country on a international scale, there would be outrage. Currently were all in this together, Everyone get over it!

  • @sionnyn Naturally I'd disagree with - or it better be a bloody big stamp! But one thing I do know - if Scottish lemmings under their mickey mouse politicians vote for independence it will be a great day - FOR THE ENGLISH.

My only worry is for British railways - where will they find 5000 the drunken Scotsmen that seem to ride on their trains everyday......

  • @paddyfin Obviously You could put all that you know about anything on the back of a stamp.

  • Nasty, ugly little queer, who has led such a limited life from public school to Oxford that he has no concept of humanity outside his precious little clique. Time the BBC stopped feeding his disgusting, over-inflated ego by giving him air time.

  • @paddyfin nah on a grain of rice.

  • @paddyfin Nice one.
