    Two quality stereo speakers are better than 5 crappy ones, no matter what way you spin it.. I use Dolby virtual surround with a proper set of stereo headPHONES (not headset) and mic and it sounds better than any "gaming" headset I've ever heard. For less than the price of an Astro headset you can get a Xonar DG sound card + Sennheiser HD 558 Headphones and a clipon mic and it will sound WAY better than and gaming headset ever will.
