This is a "modified" version of Magpul Dynamics' Balance of Speed and Accuracy (BSA) Drill, because I only had a smaller 25 yard range to work with instead of 100 yards. I fired a total of 112 rounds, and had 15 misses. I started at 5 yards and worked my way back to 25 yards, doing about 3 reps at each yard line, sometimes more if I was really motivated and wanting to push myself harder. Magpul's basic Par times and round counts is 2 rounds in 2 seconds from the 5-25 yard lines. It changes up a little after that I believe. But you can shoot more rounds if you're a more skilled shooter. You're not limited to only shooting 2 rounds by any means, you can shoot however many you think you can fit in within the 2-second Par time, and everyone's skill level is different. But you NEED to push yourself. If you run this drill flawlessly without any misses at all, then you pretty much failed because you did it wrong and missed the entire point of the Magpul BSA Drill.

This is a really great drill that helps you to determine how fast you can individually engage targets at different ranges while maintaining good accuracy. By running this drill, you'll figure out just how fast you can make combat effective hits on the target. If you hardly have any misses, or no misses, after you run the drill, then you're NOT pushing yourself hard enough and need to shoot faster. But if you have around 15 or more misses, then you've gone past your point of failure and need to slow down your rate of fire.

Also, there are Par times on the shot timer. If you're not getting off your shots before time runs out, you need to try taking one less shot because you're pushing too hard. But if you're done pulling the trigger and hear the second "beep" from the shot timer go off, you need to try getting off another shot or two.

A good BSA Drill run is having around 7-12 or so misses, and making the Par times as well.

The carbine I'm running is a BCM (Bravo Company Manufacturing) 14.5" mid-length, with a Surefire MB556K muzzle brake, surefire M300 mini-scout weaponlight and SR07 pressure switch, Daniel Defense 9" FDE Lite Rail. Magpul AFG, rail covers, PMAGs, trigger guard, pistol grip and CTR stock. Troy FDE rear BUIS, Aimpoint Micro T-1 red dot sight sitting on a Larue Tactical T-1 Tall Mount. And the lower is a complete Knights Armament SR-15 E3 ambi lower with the 2-stage KAC trigger.

Semper Fi!

  • Nice video man... What kind of trigger kit you usin?

  • @drftndunks Thanks! I believe in this one I was running a Gessele SSA trigger. It's an outstanding trigger!

  • Hey brother, what editing program are you using? I just bought a HD Countour and trying to get something to edit the files.

  • @DeltaBravoTango69 I use iMovie on my Macbook. I've never used the editing program that comes with it, so have no idea how good or easy it is to use.

Good luck with the Contour, man! It's a great camera!

  • Hey, Is that break pinned, or is it nfa., will the surefire make a 14.5 long enough>?

  • @MultiSr16 As of now, it's a short barrel rifle. So I have to only use it on my NFA registered lowers. But yes, the SF brake will make it long enough if you get it permanently attached.

  • Clean reloads, speed, and tac from the redimag. good shooting

  • @krazykiddjoe Thank you for clarifying. I had a feeling this grip was mostly used in competition style shooting, as I had never seen it used in any other instance. Picking up my AR-15 at this moment and trying it out, feels pretty good and responsive. Now let's see if I can keep my SAIGA-12 under control when I hold it and shoot like that!

  • @TheHevquip NOT RetreatHell, but I'll take a stab at explaining the grip, I'll assume that you are talking about his forward grip on the rail. This is done "drive" the gun target/ target shot/shot. Shooters use this grip are able to stop on a dime. Shooter's that grip the magwell tend to travel past their second target and have to come back. This grip is advocated by most pro 3-gun shooters along with instructors like Costa, Kyle Lamb.

  • Could you explain the reasoning behind the grip in this video? I have never seen a gun held and shot like that.

  • Nice trigger! I just got my BCM M4 upper, I cant wait to shoot it even though I'll be usin my old CMT S/A Bolt... :( Bravo doesnt have any BCGs in stock lol. Any idea when they restock bcgs?

  • Looks good. Curious why you weren't starting from a low ready as that's the way we've always done it… Good job and great videos.

  • @activenetzwerke Thanks. I just run an H buffer to keep things simple and guarantee I'll not have any problems even with weak ammo.

  • damn i hate it when ppl hold their weapon like that but i cant hate cause it does control more recoil
