Hey there where are you from? I am interested in getting becoming an apprentice sometime in the next 4 or 5 years. Would you be interested?

Nice bird! He seems to have very good manners on the ground. You can tell that he is not worried that you are stealing his kill. Fun hunting style, thanks for posting it.

After watching the video again, I can see what you are referring to, however....Buddy works very hard for every kill and in that particular field, there is almost always a haggard (or pair of haggard red-tails) overhead or somewhere near-by. This would make any hunting bird very nervous when on the ground. The fact that buddy is manteling toward me and looking back over his shoulder testifies to this. Buddy is the best hawk I've ever flown, both in ability and manners. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comment. Actually, Buddy's training is based on a one kill philosophy, that is when he catches a rabbit he is fed a complete gorge. This ends the hunt and we go home. The result is usually a rabbit within a thirty minute hunt. At other times however, we may hunt for a couple of hours without a kill. At any rate, he can outlast his partner and biggest fan any day of the week. Austin
