Wow! John had a great voice and looks:he should have experienced more success as a singer.

Great memories. John was from Baton Rouge. I grew up in Vidalia. Saw him and the band live once in Natchez and a couple of times in Ruston at La. Tech. Great showmen. God bless them all.

One of the truly great pop hits of the 1960's. Brings back great memories for me. Thanks so much for posting this. A wonderful song. Glad to know he was a good father and grandfather too.

OMG thank you for posting this! He was my first teenage crush (never met him, just from afar) ;)

I love this song... great it made on the 'boat that rocked' soundtrack... is here any live video footage of this being performed?
-
A parody of Lucy In The Sky -well sort of. Psychedelic wacky lyrics makes a fun novelty song with funky rock

I heard the song today and was interested in finding out the lyrics and info about the singer. I think it's one of the best songs of the 1960s. I was sad to read that he died - he seemed like a very nice guy. He was also very good looking.
