This is my garden of Datura Inoxia. I love to watch these flowers open... The aroma upon opening is very pleasant and heavy. It is better to enjoy the odor from farther away. I have heard you can consume the stuff, but the smell is better than risking death. The blooms are lovely. large and fleeting. Note the !SPHINX Moth! that comes in for a snack. The moths lay eggs which become Hornworms of bright green with a nasty looking "sting" that is just for looks. I filmed this in Southeastern Indiana in July of 2007...

  • It is also a cure for many diseases, I personally drank a tea from flowers with no drug effect. I cured stomach cramps with that tea, that is proved in traditional medicine.

People who used datura as a drug, made its evil side of the story , but in fact that plant is miraculous cure for many diseases if used properly.

Thanks for the video again and i wish you that your gardens flower for many, many years.

  • wonderful video... i grow these flowers every year... but in chicago they are only annuals... love to watch the bees go crazy chewing holes into the flowers and pushing their little bodies into the blossoms from the top before it is opened up to get to the pollens and nectars inside... 2 or 3 get down inside then they all get mad at each other and buzz and fight inside of the unopened flower...

thanks for the great video... thought you looked cute smilin' for the camera...!

  • @Shewwler So will you catch me some TOMATO worms, rear indoors in containers, until they pupate, so I can buy them from you?

  • It's called a SPHINX month, not "Phoenix" moth.

  • @otirudam I wish people would just stick to marijuana or peyote cactus, rather than even TRY this plant. It is a one-way trip for most. Pot is for the dope-heads. Datura is for HORNWORMS!

  • @fetishisticrose Yes, moonflowers WILL GROW WELL in AZ. Just keep them watered. Contact the poster for some seeds and just watch for hornworms. In Az, you will get the true TOMATO worm as well as the more common tobacco worm. Until your plants are 2 years old, just keep them covered with sheer netting--especially at night. The plants will unfortunately draw in more moths/larvae than a young plant can support--unless you have a lot of tomatoes for alternate food to relocate baby worms to.

  • @EatY0urTV OMG--I'd LOVE to have some seeds of a purple Datura! I only grow them for their ornamentation and most importantly--habitat for the majestic Manduca moths and their beautiful larvae.

  • @fetishisticrose i could send you some seeds :)

  • mine are deep purple and white and they stay open all day......anyone want to buy some seeds?

  • show de bola.
