Cuban-American Martika was a child performer on the 80's Disney Channel prior to releasing her much-copied hit "Toy Soldiers" in 1989. The original version contained backup performances by some of her former child actors but this live version showcases her own charisma in a Spanish version seldom heard on American radio. Martika nicely delivers her hit with charm and style! Soldiers is one of those songs which sound like no other, having a sound which is immediately recognizable, and a rythmic/bouncing flow which is able to transcend genres and decades. The lyrics also dip into an area seldom covered better... that of drug addiction and the loss which goes with it.
