Sylvania blu ray player? damn dude i never heard of that brand before. Anyway if it's okay with u then enjoy it but you also could have gotten a samsung bdp 1400 or bdp 1500 for under 200 bucks. Is it a bd-live profile 2.0 blu ray player?

I notice that you said "yes I know not a very good brand" but really the Sylvania and Magnavox players have been quite good actually. Sony and Panasonic provided an optical head and chipset respectively for these players manufactured by Funai. They have exceeded expectations and have been very solid. No need to apologize for buying this player. Enjoy!
