Before this scene was filmed the woman who Plays Mrs. Alexander said to Malcolm McDowell "Well Malcolm today you'll find out that I'm a natural red head."

Finally, at the end of the movie after Alex has been "cured", we see that the people that he had tortured previously, like the homeless drunk and F. Alexander, became no better than he was when they figured out who he was. They ended up torturing him in the same right. Which just shows that no matter how hard we try to keep something "good", there will always be a negative effect afterwards. The balance of "good" and "bad" is what keeps the world steady, you can't have too much of either thing.

@mariasimz of course. For one the over abundance of sex in this futuristic society reflects on Alex himself. It's not necessarily Alex that is bad (which he is), but because of the environment he's grown up in, it has influenced the way in which he acts and such. For two, the question of the entire movie itself is whether or not it is moral to take away someone's free will for the betterment of others, or if it makes us just as evil as Alex. I'll continue in another comment.

think about the title. A clockwork orange is someone who looks natural on the outside, but can't make choices, like clockwork. Alex lost his ability to make choices, which stopped him from doing crime, but he lost his humanity. It's about paying for order with freedom

I agree with you but could you please kindly explain to me the meaning it has for you or the other themes? (:

@cedriiic64 you're one of those people who doesn't understand Kubrick's messages behind his films. This movie is not about rape, and not about violence. But unfortunately you're like a child who only sees the picture in front of you and doesn't look past it. There are literally five scenes of "violence" in this movie, the rest deals with other themes you probably wouldn't get.

I always surmised that England lost the war because its inhabitants couldn't defend themselves. just from this movie I realized why England couldn't take the Americas, i.e. the U.S.A, but maybe again I'm baised as I live here, tell me why I'm wrong you long lost Great Brittianers ???>>>

Choice and free will are beautiful things. Without them, we would have no joy, no love, no excitement or purpose. Of course there are dark sides to all things, for every good man we must have an Alex. But denying the darkness in man's heart is like denying part of yourself.
