Last one tonight. Here's "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" by Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra, an acoustic disc, layed on my Victor V with speartipped oak horn. This machine belonged to a former Victor employee originally and I'm proud to own it.

  • How many phonos do you have, looks to be a wonderful collection! also...how many records?

  • Hiya...I have about 35 machines in my house (a chore!) and another 30 or so stored (safely and climate controlled!) elsewhere, I'm a phono-addict. I have about 30,000 78s, 5,000 LPs, about 12,000 45s and 2000 or so cylinders.

    It's never enough! :-)

  • Thanks for giving us access to these wonderful old tunes-I came to you through a link from musicvf.com which has all the american charts back to 1900 and british from 1952 and each song has a link if its on YT-enough for a lifetime of entertainment and research. Please keep putting up songs from your amazing collection.....

  • do you have a copy of My Shawl by Xavier Cugat? mine got cracked and I miss it so

  • What an amazing collection! Thank you for sharing some if it here.

  • @Jazzbaby1973 Do you by any chance have Pat Best Someday/Karen lynn on Manor Records? I've been looking for it all-over for 5 years as my 78 copy has been destroyed :(

  • I wish we could have gotten a better look at the record label. How odd it is that I recently threw out a 6 year old record player because I couldn't find a stylus for it anywhere, even on the internet, but you can apparently still find needles for 90 year old machines.

  • So neat!

  • Holy shxx, that's excellent! It reminds me of my great aunt's house many years ago (I'm older than dirt)

  • Very very nice video. Your gramophone has surprised me! But, ehi folks, dont forget we are listening now a MP3 on web!!! The original is another thing and I am sure the feeling is great listening at horn.

    Thanks Paul!

  • Yes... When you hear a wind up gramaphone in person, you realize that speakers and digital recordings sound fake, and ruin the sound of old records. Digital may be find for new music, but not the good stuff.
