Alexander Vertinsky /Wertyński/ (1889, Kiev -- 1957, Leningrad), legendary and to-day perhaps even mythical artist and personality, Russian poet, singer and composer.

Jerzy Petersburski (1895 , Warszawa - 1979, Warszawa), Polish composer of popular music, creator of great hits, some of them crossed the borders of his native country /Tango Milonga (Oh, Donna Clara), Błękitna chusteczka (A Blue Scarf)/, a lot of them presented here, on YT.

1932 visit of Alexander Vertinsky to my home country was his second one. Vertinsky visited then Sopot (Sopoty), a resort town at the Polish sea-side, the visit my special video was devoted to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVAOPl9xQtA&feature=channel_video_title
and of course a capitol city, Warszawa. In Warszawa, Vertinsky made a series of recordings for Polish Parlophon label and for "Syrena-Electro". Records of this latter recording session seem today to be especially rare.
Both artists -- Vertinsky and Petersburski -- met at the studio of "Syrena" where the outstanding musician and pianist was supposed to accompany the great soloist.
Record presented in the video is a proof of that special artistic liaison of that day.

Selection of the recording for the video has, however, special grounds: I wanted to offer it to the Russian performer of Russian poetry, a singer and musician, Larisa Novoseltseva, who is embracing poetic legacy of Alexander Vertinsky with special, creative care:

Mad Organ-Grinder

(...)
You are a tired clown, you are a funny showman
With naked soul, you don't know what shame is !
Shut up, shut up, crazy organ-grinder !
I have to forget my songs - forever, forever !

Music and lyrics: Alexander Vertinsky

This new spring needs an extra kick when 3 minutes of play is close, unfortunately.
