  • Yes, the "Jerry Johnson" character was based on Johnny Carson, I guess Stone didn't want to open himself up to legal action by naming Carson. He did cut him off but repeatedly in other ways and not as dramatically as Stone portrayed it with the tramp photos. I think it's obvious from listening to the broadcast that the audience was sympathetic with Garrison.

  • They meant Johnny Carson. Mort Sahl got Garrison on and when he tried to show the tramp photos, Garrison kept cutting him off.
