Yeah, I know. Holy obscure curve ball, Batman. From talking to friends, I think I might have been the only person in the world who played Summoner. Let me know that I'm not alone if you've played it too. It was most definitely in my top 3 favorite RPGs of all time. Despite the graphics, the game had such an amazing story, atmosphere, and overall playability. It's too bad you probably can't find it many places anymore, I've always been in love with the music that came out of Volition. Loved games like Summoner and Red Faction.

Oh yeah, and I guess I'm playing the cello in this. I kind of regretted it after recording, I've been only playing it for about a month, not even. I got it a few months ago but then I started N64 Medleys 2 so I had no time to practice. I'm pretty unhappy with the sound I got from it, so I think I'm going to get some more practice in before I try to use it again in another cover. Mixing was a bitch too, for some reason, I couldn't get the ending less muddy. I EQed it down so much but this cover just has way too many bass-y instruments. I ended up having to take out a lot of stuff for the sake of clarity. Also, I didn't include the middle section in the cover because I couldn't get it to sound right as a metal version, so I dropped it entirely. I'm feelin' pretty self-conscious about this one and I wish I could have done better, but I hope you guys enjoy it all the same. :)

Sorry about the obscureness, this is just one of my favorite video game songs of all time. Next week I have a much much more well known video game song for you guys. See ya then! :D

  • What is Summoner? Ive never heard of it? And what system was it for?

  • @SmashMastr98 An awesome RPG for the PS2 that went completely under the radar.

  • So, the percussion in this track.

Is it ALL Ezdrummer? Does it even have these sounds? (I don't use it, that's why, but I'd like these sounds eventually.)

  • @EggplantOfTime Yeah, all drum sounds from Ezdrummer.

  • Cello is such a baller ass instrument!

You just destroyed all of the things I thought held you back.

    Awesome work champ.

  • @MidnighttToker9881 Haha, I love doing really abrupt endings for some reason. I think they leave a very unsettling feeling. :)

  • Epic!

  • Godly music, yet very mediocre game.

    Thank you.

  • A friend of mine got me into your vids... and man this game was the first game I ever got for ps2... Still have it too! Badass cover... nostalgia overload!

  • A guitar cover of my favorite song from my favorite game.

    .....

    ..........

    I think I love you.

  • FUCK! You fucking rock!

I loved Summoner as a boy and I love this tune the best.. I was just listening to the original version in my car today lol. I love Skyrim and a lot of other rpgs, but summoner is the first rpg that I had connected with. I sometimes feel like I'm the only person who has played this game as well, but to see your video.. Truly inspiring to know that this game has impacted someone else as deeply as it has me.

  • I know this is completely irrelevant and some people might hate me for saying this, but this reminds me of Gears of War in a way.

  • Wait a second. No one played Summoner and Summoner 2? It was like the birth of my RPG spirit!

  • I actually used to know someone who owned it for the Gamecube. I'd looked at it several times, and considered playing it, but I never did. I wish that I had, especially after hearing your arrangement of the song. You've actually inspired me to learn it, even though I'd never heard it before.

  • damn good job man. your seriously one hell of a musician

  • @FamilyJules7X PS2 eh... If i ever get my hand on a PS2 i might have to try it out.
