Good points. I've just started learning about and eating wild edibles. I feel like if I'm eating plants from an area where there has been no chemicels sprayed on them then I'm actually eating "cleaner" food than what I get in the grocery store.
Around here people seem to think if a product is labeled organic it is somehow safer than one that's not. They also feel the same as you described about wild edibles. It seems to me that they feel by paying more money for something it's somehow safer. As you said though, the water and air all comes from the same place. Unfortunately, there are natural areas in Michigan where it is unsafe to consume any living thing due to dioxin poisoning among other things.
