One of the best song writers ever - Leon Russell

I feel sorry for anyone who thinks that this can be topped, it has got to be the nearest thing to musical perfection there can possibly be. What a song, what an arrangement, what a singer ! No one could ever categorize them, they were just " The Carpenters "

I AM SORRY..LUTHER'S VERSION WAS MUCH BETTER
-
The best female singer ever. Enough said

What a voice.

I feel like Peter the disciple denying their obvious talent

Few teenagers in the 1970s would admit to liking the Carpenters but, as an "AM girl," I loved them and still do. This song, in my opinion, was one of the best they ever recorded. Karen was one of the best female vocalists ever. Richard put the group together, wrote a lot of the songs, orchestrated all the arrangements (sometimes he didn't get credit for it) and Karen was an excellent drummer--she considered her singing talent a bonus. But it was her vocals that sold the records. RIP Karen.
