In the 1980's I use to order records from Scorpion Records. I recall Jeff, who provided me with a note of his recommendations from the late 60's to early 70's.

used to go in there all the time from 88 to 2002.
great shop. great memories.

Spent tons of my Saturdays in there from 91 - 95, best shop in Wycombe, hopefully they've opened another shop elsewhere as you just dont get their kind of service any more. Not just a record shop, more like friends.

This shop closed within a few months of me first visiting it, when I was only just starting to blow my pocket money on music. I'm glad someone was making these sort of videos at the time, capturing some character that was already disappearing to begin with. Long live Counter Culture, or else record shops will be something you only find in places like Camden...more like museums, for die-hards and tourists.

Very sad. I started buying records there in 1978. The best shop in Wycombe. THE punk band from Wycombe was the Extraverts who went on to become zero zero. Aaaaaaah happy days.

I've just discovered your video. I bought loads of records from Scorpion, travelling from Bedford especially to go to this shop. I've just seen the street now on streetview. What a difference. I'm glad you managed to capture this for posterity.

it was a cool shop thanx

Haven't been to counter culture! But spent many happy saturday afternoons at scorpions checking out vinyl. So thank you for that.

Your shop is deeply missed. I think I must have visited you since you first opened - admittedly nose high to the counter at the time!
Thankfully Wycombe is back on its feet now that the new development is completed - but as you say very few independant shops of character survive.
Thanks for that reference - I'll look it up. cheers

Thanks for those comments. I was especially gutted by the demise of Scorpion - it was the gravitational centre of my Wycombe, but looks like a new chapter is opening with Counter Culture. Really hope Steg and Cheryl's shop is a success - I used to go to Wycombe College with Cheryl
