darkfire1408 is regurgitating what they were spoon fed by the church and cant really be blamed for propagating lies because they come from leaders they trust unquestionably. Did polygamy REALLY stop? No. Was it just cuz there weren't enough men. No. Do a little research and you will see that polygamy doesn't even increase population any faster than traditional monogamy.

Later, christ commanded us to stop and we did. Even before we started polygamy, laws were made to allow us to be killed on sight because of our religion without consequences. Why do people hate us so much? We are simply normal god worshipping citizens.

First off, we are Christian! The real name of our church is the church of Jesus christ of later day saints. Second, the only significant difference is that we have prophets today. We receive current revelations and commandments. Polygamy was because after we were driven out of America into the Mexican territory, most of the men died on the way.

This came from dime novels written in the early 1900s. People would eat this stuff up, much like "the Inquirer" or "the Star" today. The authors didn't do much research or check their facts, and they'd up the romance, violence, controversy etc. They were written to make a quick buck. This would be like if someone looked back at today and thought Indiana Jones was an accurate depiction of history.
