"Harry Revel created the basic "idea" and themes while Leslie Baxter, conductor and arranger, has given them appropriately unique tone color, using mass harmonies of human voices as well as unusual instrumental effects with woodwinds, strings and bass; some without rhythm, others with a dominant, demanding beat [...] The artist who plays the Theremin is Dr. Samuel J. Hoffman, whose brilliant technique was heard in "Spellbound", "Lost weekend", "Spiral staircase" and "The Red House".
To Theremin ή αλλιώς aetherphone/etherophone, thereminophone,ή termenvox/thereminvox, είναι ένα μουσικό όργανο που εφευρέθηκε το 1920 από τον Ρώσο επιστήμονα Λιον Θέρεμιν ( Leon Theremin) και το οποίο παίζεται με την κίνηση των χεριών στον αέρα πάνω από ένα ηλεκτρομαγνητικό πεδίο.
Το μουσικό αυτό όργανο ακούγεται στην μουσική υπόκρουση πολλών κινηματογραφικών ταινιών, σε αρκετές σκηνές που έχουν ψυχική ένταση, τρόμο, πνευματική αστάθεια χαρακτήρων, απόγνωση, αγωνία, ή παρουσιάζουν το διάστημα...
Επίσης χρησιμοποιήθηκε για ονειρικά, συναισθηματικά ακόμα και χιουμοριστικά μουσικά θέματα ενώ κάποια συγκροτήματα της ψυχεδελικής ροκ μουσικής ,το έχουν επίσης χρησιμοποιήσει στις συνθέσεις τους.
Το Theremin θεωρείται ο πρόγονος του Moog Synthesizer και γνωστότεροι μουσικοί που ειδικεύτηκαν σε αυτό το μουσικό όργανο είναι ο δόκτωρ Σάμιουελ Χόφμαν (Dr. Samuel J Hoffman ) και η Κλάρα Ρόκμορ (Clara Rockmore)
