  • I remember your dad loved to fish. I think I saw him at Long Lake near Appelton several times. I remember just about all of the kids I had in my classes, but especially the smiley good natured ones like the Erickson kids. I really do recall many good times at Mike's Coffee Shop, under your dad's ownership and way back to Mike Mills. Makes me feel a little old recalling those times--Tell Howard, Jr. I appreciate his link here--Very sorry to hear of your loses--Mr. Van Hee

  • I hope you saw the old Horse sign in action,,,,,many people I have met over the years, recall this display,,having there mom and dad bring them in to town for a malt on a Saturday night and watch the running horse "Speedy"

  • are you talking about me (melissagreen)? I worked at the restaurant too and you also taught me at MHS? I'm susie's daughter. Nice to read your comments about my grandpa, he was a wonderful man!!

  • I remember it like I'm looking at it right now. The original owner, I believe Mike Mills, loved horses. In fact, I think he had some horses run in the kind of race pictured in that neon sign.

  • I hope this is going to Mr Vanhee.....this is Susie, and I so appreciate your comment on our Dad. You were my favorite teacher at MHS and it meant alot to all of us that you wrote on this video. We lost him last April to cancer and our mother also last January to cancer. Been a whirlwind of a year. thanks again so very much for your kind words!

  • I not only taught in Marshall, I grew up there; and Mike's Coffee Shop was a community institution. We went there all the time in high school and after a night out when home from college. It was one of the great places where you rubbed elbows with the garbage man on one side and the mayor on the other. There was never a better owner of the place than Howard Erickson. I also fondly remember his kids Howard, Susie, and Dina. I'm forgetting one here but I guess that's old age. Mr. Van Hee
