This was a test with a PIR sensor found in an old security system. It is mounted on a servo. The sensor is read by an ATmega644 and then it moves the servo accordingly. There are still some problems that I need to figure out for it to work great. The signal from the sensor drifts slightly.

Enjoy!

  • thi sis related to my thesis bro..

  • Good job!

you can make a thermal scanner using two servos and only one sensor with a lens

  • lol

  • Very cool idea! I wonder how did you do this? It looks like the PIR sensor is the actual stand alone sensor (TO-5 package). I understand that the pyroelectric sensors (caps) within the PIR will generate pulses according to your hand's motion.

What I will do is to determine the speed of the pulses will be generated and then set a time constrains (sampling time period.. eg: 1us). So, what if you sweep your hand faster?

Did you have a comparator after the amps or simply just plug to ADC?
