I'm not a musicologist, but this feels way too fast to be tasty. Of course it's good! But it's annoyingly rushed in its vibe.

Aha of course you're right. It's the Italian in Biondi that we're hearing here. There are very clear cultural distinctions in music even in Classical Music and this debate has been continuing ever since the Baroque Era... hehehe... the debate seemed to have it's origins among the French who then thought that although Italians played like an "avalanche" [of virtuosic cadenzas and improvisations] well it's "an avalanche" ahahaha... :>

What debate? The tempo marking is clearly Allegro Moderato. Surely there's no debate over what that means.

oh i'm afraid there is. Muffat on his travel to Italy and witnessing Corelli and his orchestra play commented that the Italians play Allegro faster than they do and Adagio/?largo? slower than they do.
...these markings of tempo were standardized later ...yet variations from one country to another still do exist then and even now... as is in Standard Pitch
So Allegro moderato is somewhat "relative."
