Bushcraft -
This is how i make a small tomahwk. This was the simplest way i know how to do it. I will forge a bigger one later. Just a piece of steel folded and shaped like a hawk. The next video i make a poor man's slingshot. A forked stick, a piece of leather and 8 rubberbands.

  • Thanks for sharing that Joe, I didn't think to try it like that. Now that I've seen it done I'll have to put it on my list of things to do.

BTW - those rubber band sling shots can be a very effective survival tool or weapon. Thanks for remind me of that.

  • @Kamoyaker

I had to use the simplest way to do it.

Punching a hole on bar stock would have required much more heat and

I don't have coal so i only used wood which soes't produce enough heat.

    Thanks Kamo

  • nice tommy ..what was the blank you used?a leaf spring?

  • @wolfbushcraft

Yes it was a piece of leaf spring i had left from a knive projet.

I try not to waste anything. Other pieces are used as scrapers for bow projects.

    Thanks

  • Hello, I just have one question, what's the title of the first song ?

It was used in this song ; /watch?v=wGA8IrXKu4M

    Good video

  • @EDINBURGSTAR charcoal would have been enough to heat it properly for forging. you should have bend the whole bar to wrap around a pipe, meeting the two ends together, makes a stronger head, and it gives you the option of forging a hammer pole on the back for utility work and adding a harder steel for the edge if you want it that way, I doubt that head would last the test of time and wear.
