My submission to the 2010 Otakon AMV contest under Serious/Drama. Unfortunately, I did not make the finals, so I'll be posting this early.
Overall, I loved the series When they Cry, but there don't seem to be enough serious AMVs about it. Most AMVs try to be creepy or funny (making fun of its creepiness). I think there is a lot of serious story and drama potential here. At the beginning of season 2 (Higurashi No Naku Kornoni Kai), Rika suffers from depression... This really connected with me, so I wanted to explore a character profile from this perspective. In my eyes, Rika has the most interesting perspective in the whole anime.
Adam's song has the best emotional connection with what I feel Rika feels. It is difficult to make a perfect connection between lyrics and AMV, but I've done the best I could.

Ooooh don't worry about the audience, they always do that if they don't like the footage or the song choice. I got a groan and an "OH GOD NO!!" Last year cause I used Digimon and 4 minutes by Justin Timberlake and Madonna. But at the end people clapped lol :P You were first? Nice lol I probably saw you

Shocked to see this didn't make the finals. I really enjoyed it. Too bad there is no overflow this year, I would have liked to see this on the big screen

I saw it!! Looked real nice on the big screen :) Mine was the Kare Kano one, I know it wasn't as good as yours but I was really happy to get to see my amv up there too. You may have saw me, I was the crazy chick who ran to Vic to get my video played when he first announced the beginning of the event XDD

@Orenjiday I heard a massive groan from the audiance for mine though :-( Glad to know you enjoyed it. I enjoyed watching it on the big screen myself, lol. You sure you're the crazy chick? Cause I was the FIRST one to get in. Little did I know that VicBond was doing it in reverse order. Lol.
