November 4, 2006 - this was shot during the "Farewell to the M1" fan trip sponsored by the Long Island Sunrise Trail Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society. This is simply footage of the M1 moving in the Brooklyn yard. Pretty soon the Barclays Arena (new home of the Nets) will be standing above this facility.

  • the M3/1's also still operate with metro-north

  • A few M1s are left on MNRR for reserve purposes, however all LIRR M1s are retired and about 95% of them have been scrapped.

  • Oh i must have mistaken the M3's for M1's

  • Hey man, that's not too hard to do. Remember, M1 cab windows open in an up/down manner, while M3 cab windows open sideways.

  • That's the second time that they will destroy or cover up a rail facility for a sports arena I think it should be prevented they allready destroyed the magnificent Penn Station

  • Dont quote me on this: but I'm hearing that the Barclay's Arena now might not happen and the Nets may be forced to move to Newark instead. Just a rumor, but who knows!

  • @jetsdad100 No. Only the M3s. M1s are gone.

  • @ENTERTAINMENT35 I know that the M3s have the state seal printed on the walls, and I'm pretty sure that the M1s had plain beige walls. I will be very sad if they ever get rid of the old cars. As I'm writing this, I hear the horn of a C3 out my window! I don't mind the C3s nearly as much as I mind M7s. I know that M7s are decent trains, but I like everything about M3s.

  • @RailFanTV LIRR should still be using the M1's just like MNRR does.

  • wasnt the wallpaper on the insides of the M1's also different from the M3 cars? all in all there really isnt much of a difference between the 2 of them. outside design is more or less the same and the inner design is the same- same seats, windows, lights. as long as they keep the remaining M3 trains they have left for the next 10 or so years im a happy camper

  • M1s

  • The m1/3 still operates on the lirr, well most of them do
