A Boston mechanic tells of his experiences with sudden acceleration. He simulates sudden acceleration just like Sam Sero. He shows that when a wire in the cruise control is manipulated, the gas pedal moves on its own, and the engine goes to wide open throttle (WOT).

More people tell of their sudden acceleration stories. A Ford dealership mechanic tells how he wrote to Ford asking about sudden acceleration, and Ford responded that he should check the wiring in the cruise control. The mechanic explains that he found a cruise control unit from a car that experienced sudden acceleration in which two wires were in contact with each other.

Ford's own investigations show they knew of all the possible causes of sudden acceleration.

  • They say some cars are haunted.

  • I guess my grandmother is lucky this hasnt happened to her van. But It just goes to show that its NOT ONLY A TOYOTA "problem". In the 80s GM had this problem , then Ford in the 90s, then Chrysler and Toyota currently. I have always known that Ford's Cruise Control Modules were all crap. But, for all you idiots out there, FORD ISNT PERFECT!

  • the difference is toyota replaces/repairs the problem. my 02 ford taurus has the same problem, when its cold out the accelerator sticks. ford tells you what the issue is but expects you to pay for it.

  • No car company is perfect, but I've always questioned this whole story of "sudden acceleration." I've owned just about every car in the past 20 yrs., and I've never had such problem, nor have I known anyone personally who has. I believe it takes human intervention for the vehicle to do anything, nothing happens by itself. You move the shifter from park to any moving gear, it'll move.

  • @jtblasda exactly

  • @TheMos2818 idiot, when something like that happens to your car while you are driving, there isnt much time to react

  • My computer suddenly accelerate

  • @TheMos2818

Or they're panicking. I understand you're point, I'm a very educated and good defensive driver, but my wife has had two different vehicles fail, and she is also a very good driver. she's has two wrecks that have completely totaled her car due to recall problems. If you panic, or even don't knwo what's happening, it's not hard to lose control.

  • car companies should not produce a car like taco bell shells out food.. cheap and fast. it might do everyone good to have a brand that has decent quality and was made with some care.
