A good UPS is cheap insurance for expensive parts.

wish I knew about this earlier, I've lost the use of two 2TB external hard drives due to power cuts :( stupid British gas +_+.

Not only that but power is constantly surging (albeit small surges) when coming into buildings off the lines.

If your using a 750w power supply, you can also buy a 850 watts UPS, but it is much better if your buy a 1500 watts ups for long backup time.
