Carlos Castaneda was a graduate student in anthropology at the university of California, Los Angeles, gathering information on various medicinal herbs used by the Indians of Sonora, Mexico, when he met the old Yaqui Indian, Don Juan. He wrote a series of books outlining his apprenticeship to this Yaqui sorcerer who guided the young anthroplogist on a magical journey into another world. Castaneda learned that for us to perceive any of the worlds that exist beside our own, not only do we have to covet them but we need to have sufficient energy to seize them. This is a dedication to all those who have followed in his footsteps and taken a path into the unknown

  • I dont believe he was a fraud. Like tomsawyer8117, its the best direction to take life in imo

  • @trurocker03 I believe you are right..In what sense was he a fraud anyway - that Don Juan was not real?? - as with all esoteric disciplines ultimately it matters little the means by which you learn it is the learning in itself that is of consequence!!

  • Well said !!

  • @Ibbey3000 couldnt agree more! it seems it was all real, based on the relatively ignorant level of insight in the earlier books, until A SEPARATE REALITY and then TALES OF POWER...culminating with A FIRE FROM WITHIN...a book that was so powerfully transformative, i couldnt continue reading it (back in the late '70's)...i intend on reading it in full again soon.

  • One can also see the whole situation (lying vs truth) from a different perspective. His story about Don Juan could very well be meant anecdotally. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that one should not concoct "Toltec wisdom", because they left no written legacy.

  • This storytelling is deceptively misleading juxtapositon of pagan research without true meaning at its evil inception.

  • People just like to stick their noses up in the air and deny anything that goes against what they believe. These are probably the people kind that need to go somewhere else. They should move to the moon and they can be "right" all the time there... hahaa

  • hey...ive read all of castenada and ive deliberated between real or fraud and it comes down to I dont really care. its the best direction in life ive ever found. yo yo.

  • Wow, you guys believed this. I hope you know Castaneda was a complete fraud! and this is excuse my language complete Bullshit!

  • wisdom and love ,thank you !
