Often considered the Eighth Wonder of the World the huge granite surface of Stone Mountain dominates the horizon east of downtown Atlanta. The mountain is home to the worlds largest relief sculpture in the world depicting the heroes of the Confederate Army, President Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson. The beauty of Stone Mountain Park draws over four million people a year. Those people can enjoy the Stone Mountain Village at the base of the mountain listed in the Register of National Historic Places.
If you want to get away from the mountain scenery, than you can visit the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta. The museum shows the rich history of the tasty beverage and lets you sample products from the United States and other countries as well.

  • NOTE: The new "World of Coke" is adjacent to Centennial Olympic Park next door to the Georgia Aquarium and near CNN Center. It used to be at the upper level plaza at "Underground Atlanta" as seen in this video.

  • @Aspanaut lol

  • @bpressnall

They should of said "Largest Piece of Exposed Granite East of the Mississippi" that would be more accurate.

  • @Aspanaut they had one when was this? Because there should not be nomore kkk around

  • Did they mention the klan meetings

  • It's amazing to me too, I just don;t think it's "the world's largest exposed piece of granite" as mentioned in the video. I'm kind of a geography nut, so I like to challenge such claims made by visitors bureau's etc.

  • @bpressnall

it is amazing to us because everywhere around stone mountain is very flat.

  • its kind of cool to sit on the roof of my house and watch the sunset and be able to look only feet to my left and see stone mountain.

    ahhhhh its nice here :)

  • Nice, seems out of place for Georgia. Hate to rain on your parade, but there are expanses of granite in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California that make Stone Mountain look small. Check out Cloud's Rest in Yosemite or the area around Big Lake in the Emigrant Wilderness north of Yosemite.
