The anonymity of the internet empowers cowards & bigots. Having engaged in several of these "conversations," I'm overcome by the futility of arguing with such defiantly ignorant or hateful people (trolling twerps). Often it is on gay issues, but all sorts of political, scientific, religious, & psychological issues will suffice to them. Try to maintain your dignity throughout. Block. Flag. Defend yourself. Or choose to ignore, since attention is what they crave most.

@frascadesalsa It is supposed to be taken literally. Those who don't are just holding onto whatever religious dogma they still can while letting go of only what they have to.

I went to the Darwin exhibition when it opened and outside were all these creationists in animal suits handing out leaflets. Their argument as to why evolution is a myth? "Because God says so!" The whole leaflet was every fact of evolution followed by "we know this isn't true because the bible says so!" I think they've forgotten that the creation story in the bible was a loose metaphor, not meant to be taken literally.
