http://BarbadosBeachVacationRentals.com Round House is a restaurant, a small inn, and a bar with among the best libations in Barbados (better drink than food, imo) and inarguably one of the finest and most dramatic ocean views anywhere in the world.
Barbados' east coast beaches such as Cattlewash offer rocks the size of California McMansions, cultivated by erosion into giant mushroom shapes.
With the pounding waves as a backdrop, you can take a dip in the warm tide pools during low tide, and, if you remember your Boy Scout skills, make a campfire on the beach and cook dinner as the sun sets.
You can also sit comfortably (and safely) on the patio at Round House and thrill to the dare-devil surfers in the famous Soup Bowl.
Round House is the center point for the tide pools and Soup Bowl and long beaches and sunset cookouts. Built as a plantation home in the early 1800s, Round House was long abandoned when American Bob Manley and his wife breathed new life into the structure some 20 years ago. You'll probably meet Bob when you go to Round House; he's the friendly Yank with the ponytail and Jersey-Bajan accent.
Today, Round House is a popular destination for locals and for visitors who take the short drive to the east coast of the island, a breath-taking spot in which to remember to be thrilled to be alive.
