  • Basically. Only, the exhaust isn't blown back into the engine. Think of the turbo as two seperate systems. One side is spun by the hot exhaust gas. That wheel, or turbine, is connected to a shaft which is connected to another wheel, or compressor, on the other side. Outside air is sucked into the side of the compressor housing, spun around and compressed, and then forced into the engine. The 'rusty' part in this animation is the exhaust side, and the 'shiny' part is the compressor.

  • the wastegate is to help give out maximum boost in the turbo and protects the engine and turbo,alls what it does is dirvet the exhaust gases away from the turbine wheel in the turbo
