@socalman08 A body in a grinder?! Lol, how on earth could that fit anywhere into the film?
With the decap, do you mean the "false-wakeup" scene with Kristen and her mother?
As for the death of Phillip, I must admit that even with it toned down to an R, I still cringe at that shot of his feet. It really is disturbing.

@musicfan12647 They edited out some of the more gruesome tortures Freddy handed his victims...like talking decapitated heads, grinding limbs and body in grinder etc. At the time, R ratings and X ratings were used for blood and guts...the more gory, the MPAA rated it down to an X.
The bloody tendons and veins coming out of Phillip's hands and feet were toned down a bit too. He was in make-up for over 4 hours and in bare feet at that. He was a good sport.

@socalman08 I read on the IMDB that the film was originally an X and was cut down to make it an R. You wouldn't happen to know what was cut out...? I've always wondered that. I saw some behind-the-scenes footage where it looks like they were planning on making Taryn's eye pop out during her death. Did it have something to do with that?

@69crafty A friend of mine helped with the special effects on him. The actor that portrayed Phillip was shy about baring his feet. I was with my friend that first day and assured him his feet looked great...just for self confidence. He took care of them and had smooth soles.

@socalman08 haha what's so special about his feet?
