Ok i have a small printer motor 12Volt dc.
I'd like to use it as a generator in an experiment, using mechanical force to produce energy, like wind or water motion, but i can power only small LED lights, i'd like to charge a phone or light a stronger light bulb.
can you help me?

Great demonstration.
I did some experimentation with step motors as generator but servo motors are better used as generator see my servo motor generator video.

Can you please film it with a better videocamera, so one can see the real motion ?
Would be probably better to put all windings in series and generate a high voltage and use a Joule Thief to step it up.
Regards, Stefan.

@epowerplus hey, I have an awesome stepper that I am building a generator with that is about 1 ft X6in and output about 30 volts per turn

song matches frame rate

Good stuff! I just wish it was more than 1 frame per second! The cheapest digital cameras these days make good VGA video at 24 frames/sec. :)

true, true- you could get the message across better with higher quality video though- people would be more interested if they weren't being annoyed to death by the painstakingly slow frame rate. :P
either way, keep up the great work- you are a very intelligent person.
Hi, do you know if those two stepper motors/generators shown in the video are hooked up in series or parallel?

These stepping motor have two windings per, Connect the a/c side of a fullwave bridge across each of the windings ( two bridges per motor ) and then connect all the d/c sides of the bridge in parallel ( - to - and + to + )... The common wires are left open, not required.

You can buy stepping motors at any electronic surplus stores...such as Abra Electronics, located in Montreal or Sayal Electronics & Active Surplus here in Toronto. You can also find stepping motors in old printers...The bigger the motor. plus more steps (1.8 degrees) = high output. One more thing ..check for clogging....a strong clog = more output power.

Low FPS much? With all your inventions, surely you could buy a higher quality camera?

Your right, one day I will buy a better camera...Anyway, it`s not just about how good, bad or how slow my videos are, it`s all about the science behind them...that`s what I am promoting...and to encourage young students like yourself to pick a career in the sciences and engineering fields, that is what I am about...
