Band : The Shins
Song : Those to come
Album : Chutes Too Narrow

Lyric

Eyeless in the morning sun you were
Pale and mild, a modern girl
Taken with thought, still prone to care
Makin tea in your underwear
You went out in the yard to find

Something to eat and clear your mind
Something bad inside me went away

Quaking leaves and broken light
Shifting skin the coming night
The bearers of all good things arrive
Climb inside us, twist and cry
A kiss on your molten eyes

Myriad lives like blades of grass
Yet to be realized, bow as they pass

They are cold,
Still,
Waiting in the ether,
To form,
Feel,
Kill,
Propagate,
Only to die
[x2]

Dissolve
Magically,
Absurdly,
They'll end,
Leave,
Dissipate,
Coldly
And strangely
Return

  • If you like this listen to its inspiration... Pink Floyd - Pillow of Winds.

  • @Msosw thank you so much

  • I had this on while ordering a pizza and the person taking my order told me that it was fantastic and wanted to know what it was. Obviously the quality of the song has just be verified.

  • best song on an amazing album imho

  • this song reminds me of lazy mornings. perfect.

  • oh man forgot about this wow

  • I've actually listened to this song various times before I actually became aware of it; I have a habit of playing Chutes Too Narrow when going to sleep, and as a result, never got to listen to this song, per se. One sleepless night, I reached the end of the album; I became entranced. I never knew that such a magnificent, such a perfect song could ever exist. After playing it on repeat, it's meaning became clearer; the song dies only to "strangely return," much like life itself.

    Perfection.

  • Winter Passing brought me here ,and i love it
