Another Tiffie on September 6th 2007, this time it's a T1 two seat trainer throttling up to mil power and going missed. The Typhoon is a seriously potent fighter, we were here the whole day and saw about 40 aircraft movements and the Typhoons weren't even bothering to use afterburners during their takeoff rolls, or, like this one, to go missed. For the first time since the English Electric Lightning of the 1960s the RAF has a true fighter aircraft. The Typhoon's combat thrust to weight ratio exceeds that of every other in service fighter apart from the F-22 Raptor, and it gets close even to that. Richard Hammond and the Top Gear team were here the day before filming the Bugatti Veyron race. The poor car would have probably lost against a Tucano...
