this is back when NA$CAR was still NASCAR. Hard to believe Jeff just turned 40, but man I remember watching Jeff at this time when he was so hated, he was what got me into NASCAR. Been watching a few old NASCAR vids from this time and its nice to see the stands full still as well as classic NASCAR sponsors that mainly have to do with car products.

@dragknee650 Agreed, he should be a 6 time champion right now. Fuck the chase and Gimmie Johnson.

earnhardt may have a better career, but from 1995-1999 gordon was better than anybody in history, plain and simple.

hey jeff you are the man

I still love how these cars look compared the the Trash of Tomorrow.

Jeff Gordon won like 8 road courses in a row, or something like that. He won the big race at Bristol 5 times in a row... Won the Southern 500 at Darlington 4 years in a row... He is amazing!!!

@XxRhino96xX Also, there were 2 different pit lanes. they got rid of the other pit lane (to the right, after the final turn) in 2002 or 2003. I dont recall.

@dragknee650 amen to that

Gordon was one of the first to dedicate testing sessions just to road courses. Man, he was dominant at Sears Point and the Glen too.

They have, Rhino96; good catch. :) In this race, the first year they had The Chute, Turn 7 was a wide, sweeping corner that abruptly funneled down into the very narrow Esses. However, there wasn't much passing there, so Turn 7 is now the "Budweiser Bottleneck," a much sharper and narrower turn that switches back and forth before the field enters the Esses. Tony Stewart made his winning pass in that corner on Robby Gordon in 2001.
