In the original arcade version, you couldn't get more credits by putting in coins. Once you were out of lives, you had to start from stage one!
This did not endear it to too many players.

@floresed However, Gradius III SNES got Konami's usual porting treatment - Port the arcade version as closely as possible, fix gameplay issues (Read: difficulty) and introduce new content.

Gradius 3: Arcade is a great game. However, it is too damn hard!!!!!!!!. This is the reason it got so many bad reviews.

thsi game is sooo hard, and u cant use save states, cause it makes graphic errors,, AND when u get a game over u cant continue
