Johnnys 2010 close call,bow, elk hunt

Johnny (my son) came just second from trying out his new" Elite Judge" on this elk . All the bull needed to do was turn broad side for a couple seconds, but it didn't happen and we had to watch this bull walk off. We did get back on this bull later that same day, but with the same results. Going after a bull with that many cows is a hard task with a bow. I think we all did a pretty good job getting on this bull and bringing him in to 40 yards. What made it even more fun for me was the fact that I had my dad with us from Michigan. This was his first time chasing elk around the mountains. Hopefully he'll be back soon, but this time he'll have an elk tag too.
